Monkfish (Lophius Americanus)

Monkfish Tails

 OTHER NAMES: GOOSEFISH, ANGLERFISH

Monkfish are found throughout the coast of the Northeastern United States  and are caught year round.  Monkfish are considered a delicacy in both Europe and Asia.

We currently produce head-on, gutted Monkfish. This fish is harvested by gillnet vessels in the local waters of New England.  Once the monkfish is landed, it is packed in 20 kg boxes, and blast frozen in our own FDA approved facility.

Our company can also produce frozen skin-on Monkfish tails. The package contains only the tail section of the fish, which has a consistency similar to lobster (Monkfish is sometimes referred to  as "poor man's lobster"). The tail meats are individually wrapped in plastic, and graded according to the following sizes:

In addition, we also produce fresh monkfish livers (ankimo). These livers are packaged in 2 kilo tubes, 5 tubes per box, and are available for shipment year round.

Please note: Monkfish is a government regulated species. Therefore,  availability may be limited as the quota is filled.  Please contact us for more information.
